Dancing in the Rain

today was a wonderful day~!

truly one of the most wonderful in a few weeks.

why you ask?

because...

it rained today~!

not that many people might have known, but i truly LOVE the rain! in a country such as Malaysia, the name is synonymous with HEAT. downright scorching uv-filled heat from the sun. and our only reprieve comes from the lovely shower from heaven above~ The past few weeks have been truly hot, with the weather forcing people indoors and even as i was secure within the four insulated walls of my home, i felt extremely lethargic and got the worst headache of the month... yea i kind of realised that i oddly get headaches when the weather is too hot. funny ey? kinda like that girl in the movie Mean Girls who can tell the weather with her boobs! only... obviously not quite the same...

but today, it RAINED~!

and it left such a wonderful pleasant cooling feeling behind... mmm~! don't you notice that your moods can change when the environment is more pleasant? i'm one of those people who can get affected by weather noticeably. when it's hot i get rather cranky and when it's cool, i dance in the kitchen as i cook and sing when i'm alone in my car~

i remember when i was a kid i used to get scolded for running and playing in the playground during break times during kindergarten when it was raining because my uniform would get dirty and wet or i'd catch a cold and spread it to the other kids. lol~ it seemed like such a long time ago. i even remember how after i went in the rain to play and my arms and legs would get all wet, i would take my socks off and use it to dry my arms and legs! hahaha! it seems so gross but now that i think about it, i must have watched too much of Mr Bean on the telly.

There are some people who, when it rains, would prefer the warmth and comfort of being under the umbrella at all times, running fear-like from the rain as if it was acid or something... and would not even get out of the car without an umbrella no matter what... as if the rain would burn away the hairs on their head. Why such fear pray tell? Have you ever tried looking up at the sky as it's raining? Its one of my most favourite things to do in the world, to look up at the sky. Of course it'd be easier if you wore glasses or a pair of clear goggles lol~ Take a chance. Look at the sky as nature showers it's gift on us. You'd be surprised at how much you could enjoy it. =)

It is not enough just to reach out from under the umbrella to have a feel of it... That is the same as saying you're going to dance and then just tapping your feet or bobbing your head to the rhythm of the music. No! If you're going to dance, i say do it properly~ Move your hips and spin your body! Don't just tap your feet, dance! Our worst critic is the one staring back from the looking glass. =p

Throw the umbrella away~ Open your arms, throw your head back and look at the skies~! It's such a wonderful feeling and i'm sure some of you have done it before. i love doing it when i'm swimming in the pool as well. Most people jump straight out of the pool the moment it starts to shower for fear of lightning and thunder strikes, but there are also ridiculously hilarious moments when i see them running under their towels for shelter. EH? for what...? because you're afraid to get WET? LOL~! If there is a light shower and you're in the pool next time, try this instead - float on your back... spread your arms and smile at the skies. close your eyes and feel the pitter patter on your arms and face. it's wonderful... i love it when it rains and snows... the look of it when you view into the skies is truly lovely. Because life is a series of sensations we go through.... we should feel as much as we can as we go through it.

but maybe that is just me and my biasness... towards the falling rain.

nonetheless,

dance while you can, and enjoy every moment of it.

Life is too short to stay under the umbrella all the time.

To sing is to love and affirm, to fly and soar,
to coast into the hearts of the people who listen,
to tell them that life is to live,
that love is there, that nothing is a promise,
but that beauty exists and must be hunted for and found.
